Mickey Mouse-Joy Division tee-shirt

It’s difficult to understand what’s going on behind marketing ideas sometimes, and this one must be coming from the Twilight Zone. Sure, when I listen to Joy Division’s dark music filled with imagery of death and isolation, sung by epilepsy-suffering and seriously depressed Ian Curtis, who hang himself by the way (is it necessary to remind it?), I automatically think Magic Kingdom and happy-endings fairy tales!

I swear, Disney is selling a Mickey Mouse tee-shirt inspired by the famous cover of the UK band’s 1979 album:

‘Inspired by the iconic sleeve of Joy Division's 'Unknown Pleasures' album, this Waves Mickey MouseTee incorporates Mickey's image within the graphic of the pulse of a star. That's appropriate given few stars have made bigger waves than Mickey!’

For $24.95, it could be yours, only in XXL size (sorry girls!), and you should know it was ‘created especially for Walt Disney World Resort and Disneyland Resort’.

Can you decide whether these people are totally misinformed about Joy Division or are having a good laugh at anyone buying this shirt? I am not sure, but do they even know the origin of Joy Division moniker and its connection with Nazi concentration camps? This is so wrong Disney!
