Coachella 2012 line-up

No more predictions, no more false posters, Coachella 2012 line-up is on us and I must say that it looks exciting. The big news is that the Black Keys, Radiohead and Dr. Dre & Snoop Dogg are respectively headlining Friday, Saturday and Sunday during both extended weekends.

But headliners are not the full story, and whoever people are excited to see, Pulp, Jeff Mangum, M83, Refused, Godspeed You! Black Emperor, or At the Drive-In, there are a few local acts that have apparently reached the Coachella-level. I am thinking about the Growlers, who recently sold out three nights in a row at the Echo, our friends Fitz and the Tantrums,or Grouplove, and also a lot of acts I have seen in LA in much better conditions than any dehydrated Coachella-goer will ever be able to experience: Explosions in the Sky, Girls, the Rapture, Yuck, the Vaccines, Le Bucherettes, and of course The Black Keys and Radiohead.

Everyone agrees that the line-up is strong this year, although the Black Keys look like a weak choice for some? Well, they just were on the cover of Rolling Stone magazine so,… but Saturday looks attractive (at least for me), and no it’s not because David Guetta is playing! I know that Radiohead is kind of a very obvious choice for a headliner, but I would not mind seeing them, and the day also offers the Shins, Noel Gallagher (weird, will he repeat to Thom Yorke he has been making the same album for 20 years?), Andrew Bird and the Black Lips!

Three-day passes for the two April weekends will be on sale on the festival's website (http://coachella.com)starting 10 am on Friday PST. Tickets will range from $285 for a three-day pass to $665 to a VIP festival pass, and there will also be a general admission ticket that includes a hotel shuttle option for $335.

Note: the official website has been down almost as soon as the line-up was announced!
