MC Hammer Launching A New Search Engine WireDoo

In the series WTF?, ex-rapper MC Hammer has announced, at Wednesdays Web 2.0 Summit in San Francisco, he will be launching very soon the brand new WireDoo in order to concurrence Google and other search engines.

Stanley K. Burrell (his real name) said he and his cohorts have been working on the project for about 2 years and are thinking about a December launch date.

During his intervention, he said that WireDoo will offer much more in data than Google when you type in some words, offering not just links but also an array of suggested links to choose from, something he pretends to be superior to your regular Google search.

OK, I may have underestimated Hammer’s new involvement in this game, since he had been in fact deeply playing this for some time.

According to searchenginewatch.com, Hammer was ‘an early Twitter adopter and tech start-up angel investor’, who ‘spoke with Harvard Business School students about social media in 2009’.
Furthermore, ‘his BurrellTime iPhone app allowed users to keep up with him in real time, while his DanceJam.com site, then in beta, pulled from his experience in entertainment and the requisite advertising involved.’

He declared to the website: ‘They [being a musician and a tech entrepreneur] go hand in hand. When I saw the social tools as they began to emerge – whether it be around video… whether it be about community, ie.: way back to the days of Myspace and then on into Facebook and others – as I saw that, I saw a real opportunity to engage and connect and remove the velvet rope between the musician and his fans, who are really friends and like extended family.’

And this is what he said to give a better description of what his search engine will be able to do: ‘It’s kind of thinking the way you would think. If it’s a car… it’s not just about the word ‘car.’ It’s about insurance, it’s about the specs, it’s about mileage, it’s about style. It’s about all these things, so that’s the way it works.’

Ok, it makes sense, but can he really dethrone the Google empire?
