A new song from the Shins? I’m always craving for one! James Mercer and his new fresh group of musicians decided to play one at Domino Room in Bend, Oregon on August 9th.
After covering David Bowie's ‘Ashes to Ashes’ at their comeback show earlier this week, they did this little gem, ‘a slow song’, a beautiful Shins-esque ballad, with such a solid hook when James Mercer sings ‘Taken for a fool’, that you could hang all your melancholy on it…
Wait a minute,…‘Taken for a fool’?… is it the title of the song? But isn’t it a Strokes song already?
Whatever, the Shins are definitively back, and this song may be is a little preview of what we can expect when the new album drops in 2012.
