So Coachella is much more than your average music festival, it has lounges, cool giant sculptures, interactive art, and a multicolor Ferris wheel.
The Los Angeles Times is reporting that a terrible accident has been avoided on Friday, as a young woman attempted to jump out of the Ferris wheel gondola and was saved in extremis by her companion, who grabbed her legs and held her until the gondola got closer to the ground
.
The Indio police described the woman as ‘a young lady mentally altered on substances’,… of course.
Curiously the Ferris wheel owner has refused to talk to reporters, and has denied the incident, and a spokewoman for Goldenvoice, the promoter of the festival, said she was unaware of this too.
The Fire department and the police were on the scene, so there is no doubt the incident took place, but no one wants to waste everyone’s good timeand , the chief of the fire department is satisfied of the event, which was relatively incident free as the medical staff treated only 150 people on Friday, and only transported 12 to the hospital, though this happened on thursday and there is still the weekend to go.
After the incidents at SWSX, I am sure promoters are jumpy.
