This was not the year of the summer song, there was no “Blurred Lines” and absolutely no “Call Me Maybe” -something both undeniable and ubiquitous, something that defined this year in the life for all of us, and there isn’t one here. “Cheerleader” is THREE YEARS OLD! Though the excellent Felix Jaehn remix deserves a lot of credit. Wiz has been around all year and everything else has even less ties to the summer. “Can’t Feel My Face” could just as well be “Acquainted”.

The incredible homogenization of the charts means that the only curveball you ever get, the occasional OMI, comes from Youtube. It’s a pity.
