War On Women

Diana La Cazadora – War On Women – Steve Crawford would like this, a hard rocking ode to the Mexican wrestler, includes a Spanish language break and a lot of hard riffing sweetness in this hard nosed call out for strng, yeah even physically strong, women – B+

Say No More – Trent Dabbs – A little of this guy goes a long, long way. Here it goes on for around three years – C

Frederick Douglass – Rumer – After maintaining a swinging 60s pop mode for a good 40 minutes, she blows it with this snoozer – C

Nada – Ricky Martin – Actually, a remix ends the album, but this is the real ending, a blandish Latin American ballad – C

Angel City – Rhiannon Giddens – very pretty closer with a violin leading the way. Written by Giddens herself by the way – B+

Supper Time – Martin Sexton – A bluesy take on the end of the day (and the end of the album!), this is fun – B+

Let’s Get Drunk And Make Friends – Love And Theft – It’s not let’s get drunk and fuck, but it has a wholesome sense of playfulness in the honky tonk: it’s as easy as 1 – 2 -3  shot shot – B+

Sellin Dope – Lil Snupe – “If this rapin’ don’t work, I’m gonna be selling dop…” But it did work… A really good rapper, that’s a shame – A-

The Moon Song (Live)  – Karen O and Ezra Koenig – Pretty and a touch more atmospheric than the recorded version – B

I Went To The Store One Day – Father John Misty – He wants to die making love. wish him luck – C
