Alright here we are back in the world of rock and roll sex offenders. Let’s face it can anything top Ian Watkins baby lovin’? Not that we are aware of (yet) but the list of hush hush child lust is growing and I’m sure will continue to grow with the growing trend of speaking up about these crimes. This time Cake drummer Pete McNeal is in the clink with 15 years to life for child molestation.
We here at rocknyc have never had a problem discussing this topic. Fact is our society frowns upon it and hide as you like it happening all the time and in your town. Rock and Rollers just happen to have an entourage that can protect them from being ‘exposed’ so to speak, so mothers guard your children- it’s your fucking job. Everyone has a creepy uncle of family friend, few of us have rock and roll drummers at our Thanksgiving tables as one family did in 2009. McNeal was found guilty in March 2013 of one count of oral copulation of a child 10-years-old or younger. Three years old.. yup. Oh, and by the way it’s not his first offense. Pete received three years’ probation after molesting a 6 year old while volunteering at a school in LA. Why a literal buffet of victims there and it’s my thought more will step forward now that he is behind bars.
Let’s not pretend to be shocked and appalled here this is simply bringing to light a topic so taboo most can’t tolerate it. Culturally we are animals and its these very few who are ‘caught’ and prosecuted for behaviors that are unpalatable for the human majority.
The 48 year old is now registered as a sex offender for life and serving 15 too life makes it all the more fitting. Judge Wapner (not of Peoples Court fame obviously) passed down this sentence after an original hung jury when the charges were first given.
