Bridgetown’s New releases

“My name is Kevin. I’m just one guy, and Bridgetown is simply a collection of music by people that I’ve formed relationships with by running it for the past seven years. The discography is made up of artists I respect, relate to, admire. People who are doing awesome things in their respective DIY communities. They’re my friends.

Bridgetown exists so I can share the work of people who affect me on more than a purely musical level.

Thanks for listening.”

Thant Kevin in question is our good friend Kevin Greenspon, who we went to see in an apartment in brooklyn once a coupla years ago when he toured the  country with his girlfriend in a car a couple of years ago. Kevin’s bands  seem to eb lo fi ambient folkie coolness and here is his latest batch of releases:

Holiday Special
2014 Winter Batch Package Deal
#111 · Stupid Bummed – Flowers And Lace
#112 · The Lowered – Crayons Over Scalding Rocks
#113 · Terminus Cursus – 6 6 6 6 6 6 6 6
#114 · Brown Bread – Mitote
#115 · Hollow Boys – Believe In Nothing

I was just listening to Hollow Boys, Kevin writes “Conceived during one of the coldest Minnesota winters on record, Hollow Boys rarely stray from a bleakened palette of greyscale shades, crafting vividly detailed reflections on the frigid reality that envelops them. Hollow Boys’ third full-length chronicles their struggle to find hope and overcome the cancerous emptiness of modern culture.” Or a soulful guitar buzz saw of melody and mood (that’s me talking!).

For seven years Kevin has managed to keep Bridgetown Records running, quite an achievement in itself, time to support the guy with your hard earned bread. Or you can just stream it on his website here. So now instead of whining, now it’s  your turn here to support the arts.
