After spending a few days in San Francisco last month, I realized that the homeless situation is really out of control in this city…. You can’t escape the homeless situation in San Francisco, I was literally stumbling on bodies lying on the street when exiting my hotel… it was terrible. I know that the situation is probably not better around skid row, downtown LA, but San Francisco being relatively small compared to Los Angeles, these poor people are just in your face when you walk the streets,… what can be done? I am well aware that it is not the dollar bill I give to the homeless guy waiting at the entrance of the I5 Highway that is going to make a big difference, the situation is so dramatic!

Comedian Margaret Cho is taking action, she will be busking all over San Francisco in the following weeks as part of a campaign to feed the homeless, and on Wednesday, she got some help from Bob Mould! Yes, according to the SF Weekly, the ex frontman of legendary punk bands Hüsker Dü and Sugar was playing in the streets and this is certainly very cool. Not only Cho is raising money with a few musicians, but she is doing it in memory of Robin Williams, using the hashtag #Be Robin for the campaign on Go Fund Me, as the deceased comedian used to secretly help homeless people.

At this period of the year many big stars gather to record songs for Africa and they expect big money from it, but how many of them would descend in the streets to do some old school busking? I know Bono and Geldof are helluva more famous that Bob Mould, but Bono recently made number 1 on GQ’s list of the least influential people in 2014, so he is sure losing any momentum, big time! But I digress, support this awesome #Be Robin campaign here.
