Kat Counting
Kat Counting

1.Who’s Counting – Kat Edmonson – Kat on a long distance journey through time, and space, and absolutely lovely and oddly moving, and what a great way to end an album… love the horns.  Her point? why count when nothing is promised. Written on tour in Europe, influenced by Paul Simon’s Graceland, Kat said the song mean”we don’t know why we are here”  – A

2. Father And Son – Engelbert Humperdinck – Hard to deny this one, a duet with his son Bradley Dorsey, and a great idea except the Dink doesn’t sound old enough and his singing is too mannered. Bradley steals it  – B

4. America the Beautiful – Herb Alpert – will you knock off the bloody paddle diddys already, it is like a bird pecking at your ears for 40 minutes – D+

5. Just Gettin’ Started – Blake Shelton – Another party song to lead you out of the album, and generic in the extreme, still “we the people love the midnight hours, silver bullet proof and whiskey sours” is a cool call to getting trashed – B- Who’s Counting – Kat Edmondson – Kat on a long distance journey through time, and space, and absolutely love and oddly moving, and what a great way to end an album, with a song about travelling through time  and about what matters – A-

6. Who Are You waiting for – Melissa Etheridge – Guest what saves her? – C-

7. Hymnsong – sons Of Bill – Unless you’re playing, actually even if, you are playing CCM, don’t name your song “Hymnsong” – C

8. FUNKNROLL – Prince – thank Jehovah that’s over with – C+

9. Bouquet Final – Yelle – A ho hum ending -quirky without being smart – C+

10. Light A Fire – Rachel Taylor – May I recommend she changes her last name to Tylr because nobody will ever find her on google – C-
