In A Classic Overreaction Electric Zoo Cancel Today's Last Day Of The Festival 2014

Electric Zoo: All wet
Electric Zoo: All wet

Saturday 2013 I was at a somewhat boring day of EDM at the Electric Zoo (reviewed here), which I, in a classic line I admit it, dubbed spending eight hours waiting for the opening band to go on. Then on the Sunday 2013 last day of the festivals was cancelled due to two drug related deaths.

Electric Zoo promised a more careful search and destroy attitude towards Mollies this year and that was enough for me to stay away but apparently drugs isn’t the only thing to terrify Randall’s Island and the safety minded producer’s of “Electric Zoo”. Flash flooding from 415 to 615, which wasn’t all it was made out to be, was enough to close the proceedings early yesterday and while all they are promising is a 30% chance of showers today, it isnot reopening today.

Electric Zoo tweeted: ” Electric Zoo NY @ElectricZooNY · 17h
Update: THERE WILL BE NO RE-ENTRY. Due to extreme weather conditions, the festival has shut down for the remainder of the day.”

And then later:

Electric Zoo NY @ElectricZooNY · 17h
.@ElectricZooNY has shut down for the remainder of the festival due to extreme weather conditions.

You know what? It wasn’t that extreme and nobody says it was. Two hours of flash flooding is not enough to excuse cancelling the entire proceedings and, I might add, two deaths wasn’t enough to cancel last year. if two people die in an accident on the highway, can no one use it for two days? If you knew them, it is a tragedy, if you didn’t it’s an incident.

And while it is a lose lose for Electric Zoo, surely then should have a better read on today’s weather than I did by the simple expediency of googling new york weather.
