Do you realize that most ‘farms’ are government subsidized? Do you know that most farms are told what to produce (and how to do it) and that your illusions of that big red barn and leathery cowboy hat wearing farmer is pretty much an illusion? Did you know that corn is our primary commodity?
Yet despite all this Willie Nelson, John Mellencamp, Neil Young, and Dave Mathews still throw down this charade called ‘Farm Aid’ and you (the general public) still eat it with a spoon and find it so noble.
The event has released its 2014 line up and surprise!! Jack White is on board. The ghastly man who is the color of milk fed veal will bring his sound to Raleigh North Carolina s Walnut Creek Amphitheater on September 13th.
Along with white and the shows fearless leaders the bill includes Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Jamey Johnson, Delta Rae, Lukas Nelson & Promise of the Real, Carlene Carter, Pegi Young & The Survivors, and Insects vs Robots.
“In North Carolina and across the Southeast, family farmers have struggled to stay on the land, but they have also pioneered new roads to economic sustainability,” said Willie Nelson, President and Founder of Farm Aid, in a statement. “This region knows the value of its farmers and offers increasing opportunities for new farmers to build a strong regional food system. On the Farm Aid stage Saturday, September 13, we’ll celebrate family farmers and the healthy communities they’re growing for all of us.”
