The lovely Debbie Harry is 69 years old. Take a moment to ponder that. Nearly 70. Seventy is not a sex bomb age its a grandma get your walker age yet somehow this amazing woman has aged as gracefully as a fine wine. That being said she is still an antique in an industry of vixens.
But she is still holding her own and unlike Cher- she is not a parody of her former self. She has actually evolved and for that I will always respect her. Old broads from the scene die hard that’s for sure. Get a load of my vegan souls sister Chrissie Hynde–still a fox, it can happen but its not very rock and roll.
Clem Burke, who I used to call ‘Clam Bake’, (in conversation of the and not to him- I dont even freaking know him) says this Blondie go ’round could be the end of the band.
‘By the time we get to beautiful Vancouver, B.C., we will have toured Europe, played Glastonbury and done a number of big festivals in North America,’ he told The Province. ‘As for the rumours of the last tour, we’ve decided we’ll live forever. But Debbie, is older than me and has hinted it could be time. Obviously without her, there is no Blondie.’
This could be a great thing. I’m a big fan of calling it quits. Figure these folk have been around since 1975. Although they took a huge break from the late 80s to late 90s the point is they’re still around and its time to take a bow. Thank you for the memories!
