So last week Harvest Records did a limited run of 1,000 copies (numbered no less!) of a 10″ vinyl and the MozzaWorld went bongos. Myself included, strangely because I don’t fall for that shit- who cares about it really and I don’t even do vinyl (though the kid does). Yet starting on July 1, when RecordStoreDay.Com announced the event I was a rabid dog hunting it out. I bullied my indie record shops (and may even be banned at this point) hounded my NYC main man Iman Lababedi to scour Gotham and turned up jack squat.
Aha! RSD fucked up and its release was actually July 7.. and there my dear friends is where the true character of mankind is revealed. I had no idea it was such a big deal, numbered or not I’m no collector I’m a lifer so I wouldn’t even think of it staying wrapped and pristine. Its not an investment its my pleasure.
So with a bit of help I was able to wipe out the entire stock level of Newbury Comics in Manchester, CT. BAM four copies in my hand I felt like Charlie with the Golden Ticket. Since this was not available in the UK my first thought was to send the extras to the die hard fans who had my back during the hateful vermin sewage spew. Three copies off in the mail no questions ask not pay in return. Fan to fan share never thought twice, why would I? We’re a united group of like minded Mozerealites.
Apparently I am not the norm. I woke to find numerous fans selling copies of the disc for upward of $50.00. WHAT?! The fucking thing cost $1.99! And that’s when it hit me, people are the same everywhere. Supply and demand right? Profit from your own good fortune right? To me its no different than fucking your brother- just a sleaze bag primal instinct without any moral compass. Fuck you.
Soooo about The Mozziahs 10″…
Its glorious and I hated each one of the tunes when they first were released. Honestly, especially “The Bullfighter Dies”, I dissed that tune for its cheesy rhymes and now.. I frikken love it. Such is the case with many Moz tunes though. I hated ‘Lazy Sunbathers’ and ‘Glamorous Glue’ and now.. endlessly love.
“World Peace Is None Of Your Business”, has a silly jungle drum intro but otherwise- its so incredibly beautiful. I made fun of Moz for being Pitbull-esque shouting out locations as Mr 305 does, but I take it back and I have a feeling I will never vote again. He’s right. Go listen to the song and think.
“Istanbul” is an awesome bass filled number although the character portrayed in this is weak. Unlike Strummers “Shaktar Donesk” it misses the political pain. Its too watered down. It’s a nice try though and his voice and the arrangement is beautiful.
“Earth Is The Loneliest Planet” is….true. The lyrics in this will be Tumblr quotes for eternity. ‘But you’re in the wrong place and you’ve got the wrong face, and humans are not really very humane” Honestly, aint that the truth?

The good news is that the 10″ will be available to those in the UK on Monday (same day as the release of the new album) I am unsure if that’s part of the ‘limited run’ but if not some dick with a sharpie will try to number one of them and sell it on eBay in no time.
