Well ya know.. nothing worse than an aging goth. The pale pallor coupled with the jowls let alone the shaved off brows- its a recipe for ewww and Manson is smack dab in the middle of it.
His show in Russia got cancelled due to bomb threats. As tweeted “Bomb threats have cancelled our show in Moscow, just as we were about to perform.” It’s Russia, you can’t expect a smooth event. But the photo is pretty impressive! But that’s not all, he got shut down at another venue slated for just days later. This one for the threat of encouragement of sado masochistic behavior “Manson’s live performances look like an amusement park with a sadomasochistic slant,” said one of the protesters, Yury Zadoya. “Sadomasochism is a mental disorder. What does Novosibirsk need this show for?”
The guy hasn’t gotten this much press in forever. Although I really do enjoy his work- he’s getting a bit long in the tooth. I have said numerous times that there is most definitely an age limit to certain genres of rock and goth is one- otherwise you end up looking like Grampa from The Munsters and that’s just nuts (and not very cool!)
But fear not my Russian friends, the show will go on and Manson has numerous other dates that could well go off without a hitch. He has bills to pay ya know and he’s not getting any younger.
So whats strike three? Not sure… but it’s coming.
I still look back fondly to those crazy music videos he has done. The artistic value of those alone are stunning. I suppose negative press is still press- so the show will go on, but if he asked me, Id suggest he hang up the tour bus.
