Can we take a moment to acknowledge Suicidal Tendencies for their contribution “Institutionalized”, the song of Mikey and his mom and being a disgruntled teenager? The song is legend with the best vocals and delivery of parent/child communications ever.
So flash forward 30 years and you get this? “Slam City” is the most idiotic dance tune I have ever heard. Its the migraine maker of 2014 and I am disgusted that it’s even released. The title alone is pathetic. Dated and old using ‘slam’ as its hook shows these guys are too old for new music. They’re out of touch. First off who the hell says ‘slam’ anymore anyway? And for those of you who suggest that this title is not in reference to the 80s dance you’re full of crap, that’s where it came from and there is no denying that.
Lyrically horrific and delivered in hardcore growl Suicidal Tendencies issue a statement- ‘We Are Your Parents Punk Band”, and not yours. the concert footage shows kids on foreigh soil having fun and 4 old men who like to bite their bottom lips cuz what they’re doing is so intricate.
Honestly- its terrible and it makes me sad. I want to cheer on my decade I dont want to shield my eyes and say… err.. well they used too….’
For the record I did take opportunity to listen without watching this. Hoping that the rounded dad imagery was distracting me from the music- it didn’t. I will say a couple things in positive. The machine gunfire guitar is really quite good, the drumming is spot on….and that’s all I got.
