There is a new singing competition coming to your television and it is by far the worse I have ever found. Five personalities will transform themselves into music legends and compete for cash. Hair metal singer Sebastian Bach along with basketball star Landry Fields, comedian Jon Lovitz, singer China Anne McClain (“A.N.T. Farm”) and actress Lisa Rinna (“Days of Our Lives”) will make complete idiots of themselves for your entertainment.
Literally transform themselves from their current state with hair and makeup but also working with choreographers to master thier musicians characteristics and mannerisms. Its musical dress up and its so perplexing I’m stunned. Why on Earth would any of these B-grade celebs submit to this?
Once their transformation is complete the celebrities will perform for a studio audience. Viewers will get the chance to see each of the celebrities portray multiple musical performers during the series — such as Justin Bieber, Lady Gaga, Michael Jackson, Pavarotti, Pitbull, Britney Spears, and Tina Turner, to name a few (too many).
Let’s face it kids this show is a one season wonder. As the creative minds of television search in vain for their next big cash cow, things like this are bound to show up. Musical dress up is such an odd idea its so desperate in its theory. Would you watch this for a moment? Seriously, Lisa Rinna as Lady Gaga? Its gag worthy indeed.
But hey maybe I’m wrong and maybe we have been dumbed down so hard that this will actually pass for entertainment. Dancing With The Stars is still going on–so who knows.
ABC will launch “Sing Your Face Off” on Saturday, May 31 from 9 to 11 p.m.
