Well here it is my dear friends the rock and roll summer camp is loading up and coming at you. Warped Tour 2014 has announced its entire line up and well, it’s a lot of old friends comin’ round again. My goal is to find what these guys are paid (or are they) each go round, does each stage have a unique pay scale what are the perks? I’m thinking this isn’t a really huge money making adventure. You must live off your merch and label backing.
Bands like Mayday Parade are getting stale, how about we stir that up. Warped offers something for everyone but the diversity is slimming. The lineup is predictable nothing with 5 bands who are over toured headlining. Much has changed in the five years we have been covering this massive tour, crowds have grown and the audience is getting younger. I spoke to a newly 20 something who referred to Warped as the teenagers Halloween, not worth the time of anyone old enough to vote. Interesting.
I still feel the Warped magic but I have come to discover that it’s not just the bands doing it but the entire ‘fest’ environment. It’s hot, its filthy and its tradition. The bands are becoming less and less impressive but the party goes on. Here is your official Warped line up, see ya there.
