People ask me why I go to concerts by bands I don’t like. And the reason is:
1. The live experience is not the recorded experience, and you can’t judge most bands by the strength of just one or the other. Even a band that gave up live performance, like theBeatles, are judged by live performance if not equal to at least adjacent to their recorded work.
2. I could be wrong. I wanna give em one more chance.
3. Going negative makes for an interesting story, especially in 2014 when people don’t really go negative all that often.
And when it comes to not liking bands, there is a whole world of bad blood running through my veins when it comes to Styx and Foreigner. These guys blow the way Daughtry and Linkin Park suck: they were the AOR mainstreaming with no redeeming qualities whatsoever.
So any way the “Cold As Ice” and “Mr. Roboto” bands are playing a twofer at Prudential Center on June 26 and I swear I’m thinking about going.If it was June 27 I would almost certainly go (a Friday as opposed to a Thursday) and if I was you, I’d think about it. It is like part of the Middle America experience, as much a part as, say, going to see George Strait. It is a cultural identity even if it isn’t your cultural identity.
