Why Moby Is A Vegan and Why I Don't Hate Him As Much

Moby had two good songs on one album, Gwen Stefani of No Doubt licked his head in a music video and he has spewed his beliefs like a nagging brat for as long as I’ve known his name.

The problem is, as a vegan I appreciate his advocacy for the cause.  You really shouldn’t be eating meat and by doing so you’re really sub human in my eyes.  It doesn’t make sense how anyone could but I generally keep my disgust to myself and just judge you internally but Moby was honking out his superiority like a giant sticky snot- so I loathed him for being a pretentious cock.

Rolling Stone offered the guy a nice forum in an article titled “Why I’m Vegan”, and within the confines he addresses everything that irked me to begin with.  Admitting he was an ass is the first step to redemption.

“And I’m ashamed to admit this now, but I had the inevitable vegan period wherein I was the insufferable vegan who yelled at his friends every time they ate meat. But over time I realized that when I yelled at my friends they didn’t end up eating less meat, they just ended up getting annoyed with me and not inviting me to their parties. And maybe I’m selfish, but I like getting invited to my friends’ parties.”

As a vegan we all get preachy at one point- simply out of dismay that the ignorance of others.  How taste buds can out logic torture is something I will never understand.

So why is Moby vegan?  He loves animals, he doesn’t want to be impotent and he is trying to save the planet. Same for all I suppose but its nice to see the guy admit some flaw, he has been portrayed as a know it all jerkoff forever.  Maybe he’s just a know alot  jerk off, and we should just let him be.

“You should inform yourself as best as you can and eat and live however seems best to you. But, empirically and epidemiologically, you (and all of us, actually) have a better chance of living a longer and happier and healthier life if you avoid meat and chicken and pork and milk and eggs. At the very least I would strongly encourage you to avoid animal products produced on factory farms, as factory farms treat their animals horribly, and the meat and dairy that come from factory farms are filled with antibiotics and synthetic hormones and life threatening bacteria, etc.”
