Rioter Tyler

Odd Future’s Tyler the Creator is in trouble again: he was arrested in Austin on Saturday for inciting a riot during his show at SXSW on Thursday. The rapper shouted to the crowd ‘All y’all outside the gates, y’all push through’, encouraging people to push their way in whereas the venue was already at capacity. Odd Future’s shows are already anarchic enough, so may be such incitation wasn’t necessary? According to Spin’s Garrett Kamps, who attended the show, Tyler led the audience in a chant of ‘Push, Push, Push’, and naturally people rushed through the gates!! The venue was at double, then triple capacity, Tyler’s mic was turned off, people got mad and the management turned the sound back on in fear of a riot!! Tyler apologized before restarting his set, but it was very rowdy till the end.

Everyone noticed his total assholery, acting like an irresponsible brat, just one day after the hit and run tragedy which happened at SXSW and killed 2 people and injured 23… although the two events are completely different and not connected. But what was that? Completely immature behavior is typical of the Odd Future crew but I thought Tyler was clever than this, people could have been seriously hurt or even killed. I understand threatening society with obscenity and the appeal of looking like the new rebel without a cause but what will happen to the rebel when he is be responsible for the death of a few people?

At best this story tells a lot about a crowd’s stupidity, people’s herd mentality who are ready to behave like an insane monolithic body when a guy shouts in a mic… it’s unbelievable sometimes! Tyler was arrested by the Austin police on Saturday, and his bond has been set for $3,500.
