Beach House's 'Saturn Song' For The Space Project

01beachhouse

We had already heard of this Space project when Youth Lagoon released his song ‘Worms’ for Uranus, but this time it’s Beach House’s turn with ‘Saturn Song’.

The ‘Space Project’ is a compilation featuring many different artists who had to compose songs with space sounds recorded during the Voyager 1 and Voyager 2 space probes. Sounds of the universe, what are they exactly? They are not real sounds but rather ‘electromagnetic radiation fluctuations in the magnetosphere of the planets, moons, and large asteroids the Voyager probes traveled near’. Since celestial bodies are all different, either enormous or small, either made of gas or rocks and ice, they produce different ‘sounds’.

This concept seems to have been dreamed for the Baltimore duo since Beach House has always been a band with a celestial sound and a mysterious aura, and isn’t space really mysterious? ‘Saturn Song’ spreads very slowly, floating in space with Victoria Legrand’s usual ethereal vocals and a melodic organ, growing bigger with time. The song seems to sparkle after a while and gives you this impression to get deeper and deeper into the dark unknown. Although I don’t think the song will get the same kind of recognition, it’s also Beach House’s first new track since their 2012′s album ‘Bloom’.

The album will be released April 19th via Lefse Records, and will feature seven pairs of songs about different celestial bodies:
