Madonna Apologizes For Using The N-Word?

The M Word

I am still wondering what was behind the offensive word used by Madonna as ‘a term of endearment’ toward her teenage son on Instagram. As soon as people reacted, She deleted her comment which read: ‘No one messes with Dirty Soap! Mama said knock you out! #disnigga.’… I am not sure why she calls her son Rocco either Dirty Soap or with this other street slur, but she soon realized it was insulting and presented her apologies on her Instagram and Facebook feeds: ‘I am sorry if I offended anyone with my use of the N word on Instagram. It was not meant as a racial slur.. I am not a racist. There’s no way to defend the use of the word. It was all about intention.. It was used as a term of endearment toward my son who is white. I appreciate that it’s a provocative word and I apologize if it gave people the wrong impression. Forgive me.’

I am surprised that Madonna, at 55, didn’t anticipate people reaction, and I am surprised Madonna apologizes. If it really was what she said it was, why apologizing? It makes her look even more ‘guilty’. I wonder why she used this word, she certainly would not have used it as a term of endearment toward one of her black kids, right? What does she think she is, a rapper?

So I don’t know what to do with this, is she that stupid? Is she racist? With her record (adopting black kids and dating black men) I would say she is of course not a racist, but let’s just say that she probably has a very good idea of what the N-word represents. With her long record within the black community, she knew about the impact of such a word coming from a white woman, and her I-didn’t-know-excuse can’t be a valid one. People’s outrage was probably a reality check for her, she may have just realized that she hasn’t reached this I-can-say-any-racist-slur-I-want rapper status. And dating Dennis Rodman (and many other African Americans apparently) was certainly not enough.
