I didn’t know I would see such an oxymoronic thing one day, but this is happening! Bad Religion is releasing a Christmas album! Everyone in his or her right mind hates Christmas music right? Some white vacuity repeating itself year after year, but now that the hardcore punk band has decided to record some of it, it may become interesting? I mean, the band is known for his religion-bashing, scientific-truth-and-reason-celebrating lyrics, so how is this even possible?
It sounds like a total joke, but it’s nevertheless very true as Epitaph Records is announcing the album for October 29th… so way before Christmas and right on time for Halloween! But apparently this idea has been germinating in their heads for quite some time:
‘Bad Religion have threatened to record an album of seasonal classics for years, and now they’ve gone and done it, tackling eight chestnuts in their classic punk rock style. From “White Christmas” with its nod to pioneers The Ramones, to the glorious choirboy intro to “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing,” Christmas Songs is the record you need to get your holiday household’s toes tapping.
Nothing says Christmas like Bad Religion.

How can a band who sang ‘’Religion is just synthetic frippery/Unnecessary in our expanding global cultural efficiency’ can succumb to the Christmas album? True the Ramones did it too, but honestly, ‘American Jesus’? What kind of Christmas song is this? Yep, a remixed version of their own song off their ‘Recipe for Hate’. Are you reassured now? I am not entirely, and I really hope they change the lyrics of all the songs.
