Streaming is where it’s at.  Spotify is mandatory to life and with their new free service- there’s no excuse.  But those of us who despise radio and just need things NOW will throw down a few bucks a month for it.

Interestingly enough, the highest segment of streaming is now mobile.  Using myself as example I currently have Pandora, I Heart Radio, and Spotify on my phone.  Why? Well I prefer choice.

Pandora makes me happy with their really interesting radio streams.  Honestly I have no idea how they knew I liked the Monkees from listening to The Ramones station but it happens and its almost scary.  But those bastards cap you free at 40 hours a month.  Doing so made them lose about 20% of their usage-but someone has to pay the bills.  It just won’t be me.

I Heart Radio is fun, but the repetition is horrific.  Honestly, it’s like playing a mixed tape over and over all day til you fucking hate every song you hear cuz you’ve heard it 30 times. BUT its good in a pinch and now and then I throw them some attention.  That being said I’m not sure why but they always seem to have buffering issues.  Just them no other service (for me anyway).

Spotify is awesome and makes me the most popular girl in the office. ‘Hey what’s that song that Grandpa sang on Hee Haw’, no kidding I legit got asked that.  I found it with the help of Google and BAM next thing ya know me and my 80 yr old VP were busting a move to the strains of “Night Train To Memphis”.  No lie.

So what’s good people! Streaming mobile is where it’s at.  I double dog dare you to find Iman on the street without ear buds in- or anyone else for that matter we are on the move and we’re all trotting like Travolta in Saturday Night Fever.  Officially having a soundtrack to our days.

Here’s some stats so you have something to throw down at your next party (that is of course, if you remove your headphones long enough to converse

Mobile was the fastest growing segment of streaming audio consumption in the March 2013 ranker just released by Triton Digital. Mobile listening accounted for 56% of all audio consumption in March 2012. According to the report, we have crossed the threshold where over half of all listening is consumed on mobile devices.
