IMG_62301 – Ideal World – Girlpool – Maybe I overestimate these guys a touch because they sound so unlike everybody else in this pop moment, here they play two notes over and over again, with just the slightest of coloration. It is refreshingly quiet – A-

– Summer Forever – Billy Currington – This is what you get from the best named song of the week? This? “Days are getting longer, kisses getting stronger, ” sounds like this should be a great ride, but it sure ain’t – C

– ‘S Wonderful – Brandon Uranowitz – “Life has just begun, Jack has found his Jill…” You know the drill – B-

– Separations – Diarrhea Planet – Opening for Belle And Sebastian next week, this power pop beauty is a reminder why we’re excited – B+

– You Tripped At Every Step – Elvis Costello – From his terrific Brutal Youth album, this is a where he finds a common bond between his rock writing and uber pop compositions – A

– Live A River Runs – Sia – Sia oversings the Bleachers song.. the one you forgot was on the album – C+

– Lean On – Major Lazer – This is the most popular song in the world today… why? I guess it is catchy enough, I bet Diplo is happy – B-

Are You With Me – Lost Frequencies – The worst thing to occur in pop music was the success of “We Found Love” -this then it has been an endless parade of lame MOR songs by DJs, who think doctoring the beats make it EDM – C

– Beat Of My Drum – Powers – Pop duo goes EDM, this will hit but should it? – C+

– Gosh – Jamie xx – After a steady diet of mainstream EDM today, you better believe this eclectic mix of jungle beats and pop maneuvering sounds a lot better than it did yesterday – B+
