Punk Rockers Go A-Courting
Punk Rockers Go A-Courting

1. Sunbathing Animal – Parquet Courts – I swear I couldn’t hear these guys for the longest time and then I was listening to the Fader’s to 112 songs of the year and boom , it sounded like a modern day Pissed Jeans – A

2. Walk Right Back – the Everly Brothers – Now Phil has gone, every single song sounds better than it ever did since it will never be replicated. This song is all about the beat on the three, the “BACK” THE “don’t send it” – A+

3. I Gotta Feeling – Black Eyed Peas – Fourteen weeks at the top of the charts in 2009, it changed the face of pop till Calvin Harris changed it again – A+

4. We Found Love – Calvin Harris, Rihanna – Nothing was the same after this, it was worse. But this is great – A+

5. The Promise – Sturgill Simpson – The National meet Scott Walker –if that isn’t a redundancy – B+

6. Close Your Eye And Count To Fuck – Run The Jewels – Always a pleasure to hear from Zach La Rocha, though I must admit to finding these guys overrated – B

7. Tough Love – Jesse Ware – This shoulda broken her big Stateside –go figure – B+

8. Next To It (feat Ty Dolla Sign) – Lupe Fiasco – 2014 saw Ty’s public image rise but the NYE Kanye and Paulie guest star track should break hi right through. Based on this track with Lupe, he deserves it – A-

9. Toxic – Mark Ronson – best ODB sample ever – A+

10. Feel Right – Mark Ronson, Mystikal – This is the one, not “Uptown Funk” – A
