Lee Ann Rules
Lee Ann Rules

1. Out On The Weekend – Lee Ann Womack – Do we have Lee Ann wrong? I thought she was a sorta country popster and also rans but this terrific Neil Young cover is a revelation, all winding violins and country slide and a purring perfect vocal, especially when she looks up from his big brass bed – A-

2. Live This Life – Big Sean – I am not sure if Big sean is a great rapper who missed his opportunity to prove it or amediocre rapper who got lucky. Here he was great – B+

3. In The Orchard – Neulore – Mood folk – C+

4. Love On My Mind – Sly & Robbie and Spicey Chocolate – The best song on thir new album is also the lead off track, a reggae movie which reminds you how much the form can give you while being neither rastman vibes nor Dance Hall nor Reaggaeton – A-

5. The Way I’m Livin’ – Lee Ann Womack – Country blues rocker and the weakest song on the album, so what does that tell you? – B-

6. Sensitive – Mr. Twin Sister – worse band name from the best band name… why? They’d have been betetr off with Twn Sstr -B

7. Portals – LIGHTS – Pretty but average – B

8. Take Me In Your Army – Julian Casablancas And The Voidz – What an awesome racket, I am growing to love this album – B

9. Across The Sea – Weezer – remember when Rivers was a genius? A masterpiece of sex, perversion and strangeness as he answers a fan letter – A+

10. Reincarnate – Whiteless In Motion – The great thing about the 10s is bands you can’t believe are gonna go top ten, go top ten – B-
