1 – I’m So Glad – Skip James – I belong to a secret group on Facebook, invite only, called “For The Love Of Music” and all we do is share songs off YouTube, it shouldn’t be this much fun but it is. Run by Beiruti musician Peter Abela and with the great Salim Haddad and regulars like Tala Barrage and Zeina Misu, they lose me when they go prog rock but are excellent with European pop and Salim posted this terrific track, which is neither, yesterday. One of the great blues tracks I’ve never heard the original of – A+

3 – Yoyo – Indiraa – Mumbai native, already a big star in Europe throws up a nondescript electronic pop song with Maxi Priest adding a verse. What a couple of yoyos – C+
4 – I’m Not A Man – Morrissey – My question via tonight’s gig is with so many songs from his tedious new album, how can it be as good as Helen Bach claims? – C+
5 – You Can Close Your Eyes – James Taylor And Joni Mitchell – John Peel session on the Taylor older, as fragile as a nervous breakdown in a quiet sanitorium – A
6 – She – Charles Aznavour – Knocks Costello’s copy into a paper bag – A+
7 – Seasons In The Sun – Terry Jacks – Since we were nine or ten? – A
8 – Comme Un Garcon – Sylvie Vartan – French superstar has this French to its fingertips smasherino among her many hits, a strolling in gay Paree, droll and easy going beauty, with a terrific chorus and verse which feel interchangeable, . plus whistling but it was 1967, relax yourself.
9 – Goodbye My Love – Demis Rousseau – The past is always close behind, you know. This sounds likes like Abba on helium – B
10 – The Winner Takes It All – Abba – Somewhere deep inside, she must know I miss her… waaaaah!!! – A+
