10 Songs: Monday, June 8th, 2015

IMG_22531 – Living The Dream – Sturgill SImpson – The break out song during the set yesterday, on stage it is blow up and blow away jam track that saved his set, on record a mid-tempo swinger with a jammy middle eight, right after “she thinks mercy is overrated” — B+

2 – Fatal Flaw – Titus Andronicus – This song is so great, in a perfect world it would be the song of the summer – A

3 – Digsy’s Diner – Oasis – This is proof, if it was needed, that Liam can turn anything into a life affirming snarl – A

4 – Cool Kids – Echosmith – I was standing next to Sydney for an hour Saturday without realizing who she was: my opinion, great hair – B+

5 – Foil – Weird AL Yankovic – There is no reason I can see for this to be so hysterically funny, a parody of “Royal” – B+

6 – Setting Sun – The Chemical Brothers – A pleasant surprise during yesterday’s gig – B+

7 – Hyperballad – Bjork – I really loved Bjork at the start of her solo career, this holds up very very well and was a real treat to hear live – A+

8 – Busy Earnin’ – Jungle – The horns are gorgeous, like an extra voice, punctuating and informing the house disco mash up – B+

9 – How Big, How Blue, How Beautiful – Florence + The Machine – A big time ode to L.A. -the voice is great, and the beat is late 1970s, think the Pretenders, plus horns – B+

10 – Which Witch- Demo – Florence + The Machine – Till the beat comes up? It is like Jungle Florence, a shame it didn’t make the album proper – B+
