Live: Hot 97’s Summer Jam is always a chaos filled evening of fun and games, I once saw 50 Cent throw chairs at the audience who were booing him in the middle of a lousy set. Yesterday it erupted into chaos as folks without tickets tried to storm Metlife and the cops tear gassed them. Meanwhile, people with tickets were being denied admission.
Recorded: Back to Oasis after Noel Gallagher’s terrific set last night.
Theatre: The Tonys were last night. “Fun House” took “An American In Paris” to the woodshed, Best Book, score, etc of a musical. Meanwhile, young Helen Mirren won Best Actress in A Play for “The Queen”. A play I thought wasn’t really much of a play at all. All the winners are here.
News: In a story torn straight outta the movies, “David Sweat, 34, was serving a sentence of life without parole for the 2002 killing of a sheriff’s deputy. Richard Matt, 48, had been sentenced to 25 years to life for kidnapping, killing and dismembering his former boss in 1997.” -these guys got hold of some power tools, and cut their way out of jail, leaving only a smiley face with “have a nice day” written on it.
Sports: CC Sabathia got tossed for arguing balls and strikes in yet another terrible outing for the former ace. In baseball, you are always paying for today what looked good five years ago.
