– Still Feeling Blue – Gram Parsons – There are two artists I will get on a jag for no apparent reason -this guy is one, and this first song off his first solo album is one, it resonates with a swing but a swing all about missing the swing. So overblown and true, just the sound of her name makes him want to die – A
– One for The Boys – Brian Wilson – from his first solo album, here he reminds us what multi-part harmony is – A
– Platoon – Jungle – This is the lead off song to their live show and much more powerful live, this version doesn’t jump out at you – B
– Ghosts – Ibeyi – This is a good song made great live in person, it is a little too disjointed on record – B+
– Where Do You Go To My Lovely – Peter Sarstedt – This is a classic of Eurotrash early 1970s singer songwriter that was huge in the Middle East but didn’t get much traction over this side – A-
– California Gold – Fucked Up – Quick flash heavy duty hands on wildness – B+
– Fatal Flaw – Titus Andronicus – Hasn’t worn off yet – A
– Chattanooga Cho Cho – Glenn Miller – The hook is the “pardon me boys” – A
– Go Out – Blur – First single off and still the best song on the newbie – A-
– Guess Who – Alabama Shakes – Jazzy soulfulness, a goodie I just about missed – B+
