– Rendezvous – The db’s – Have you ever dreamt about a song? I dreamt about this ode to Elvis Presley last night, in a wild one where a young Peter Holsapple was married to a close friend of mine, and we were at a clothing store and he was trying on suits… Perhaps I should get a life – A
– Bad Radio – Leftfield – With the guy from TV On The Radio taking lead, this breathtaking popstroke with an actual hook and a great backing vocal – A
– Defector – Muse – In search of one great? Good? OK? song off their current album, this is as close as I can get, it also sounds like Rush, “I’m free from society”? I guess that’s what money will do – B-
– The End – My Chemical Romance – I mention this album because “When I grow up I want to be nothing at all” is worth every single second of the new Muse – A
– Dead – My Chemical Romance – The guitar is pure T Rex – A
– Welcome To The Dead Parade – My Chemical Romance – Marching into oblivion, Gerard as the savior of the broken – A
– In Cold Blood – Johnny Thunders – Great song, no Jerry Nolan but plenty of Walter Lure – B+
– Flip The Switch – The Rolling Stones – From one of those post mid-80s albums, just a smart riff and a bluesy vocal – B
– Emotional Rescue – The Rolling Stones – Has anything gone further into make the Stones irrelevant than the “I will be your knight in shining armor…” spoken word portion of this song? Though we laughed so hard we did we miss Jagger’s falsetto – B
– Phat Planet – Leftfield – Their biggest hit is an out of this world beat battle – B+
