Live: If Belle And Sebastian were just about what you assumed they would be, then Graham Parker and the Rumor were better than they had any right to be and the Sonics, in Texas, were better than both.
New York: With hysteria reigning over the rent stabilization laws reaching fever pitch last year, it is worth noting that Bill de Blazio has been leading the charge to terrify new Yorkers out of their wits, culminating in images of 1920s New York with mass evictions and rampant homelessness. Just another day in the big city.
Recorded: This was gonna be a slam dunk for Kevin Jenkins but now, from out of leftfield, he has competition for album of the week from Leftfield. I might include Cousin Stiz in the mix as well –those three albums.
Movies: “Jurassic World” has scored $510M worldwide, making it the biggest grossing movie ever, for a “B” graded “B” movie, or any other come to think of it. Even if you take into account inflation, this beats about “Gone With the Wind” handily, except a ticket to GWTW cost a quarter and a ticket to “JW” $10. so inflation isn’t that simple… Or maybe I don’t wanna live in a world where “JW” is bigger than “GWTW”
