anthropomorphize God
anthropomorphize God

1. Jesus Loves Me – Chris Tomlin – The question when it comes to a personal Jesus is how does its exclusiveness effect the rest of the world, translate that as what makes Chris so special? And also the creepiness factor: “I couldn’t run from his arms”. CCM makes  God into the ultimate agent for the NSA, the US Church seems to be in the market to anthropomorphize the mystical and mythical: how awful. But weight it as you may, it doesn’t outweigh this song of obedience and adoration- C+

2. Going To California Guitar/Mandolin Mix – Gorgeous instrumental take – B+

3. The Song Remains The Same Guitar Overdub – Led Zeppelin -Jimmy  sounds an awful lot like Townshend here – B

4. Little queenie – If its a slow song we’ll omit it – Jerry Lee Lewis – B

5. What A Wonderful World/What A Wonderful Life – Louis Armstrong – Pathetic – F

6. Jobseekers – Sleaford Mob – Fuck all – B+

7. The Troubles – U2, Lykke Li – Lousy use of metaphor and the song ain’t much but the two singers are excellent – B-

8. Raise Your Fist – Rancid – Agitprop – B

9. Hard Act To Follow – Sylvie Simmons – Delicate singing, pretty stuff  with a high melody quotient, if she wasn’t a rock critic I’d really love it, a piano adds more than color- A-

10. There’s A Girl In The Corner – The Twilight Sad – Love the playing even if the song itself is a little obvious – B
