The summer of 2014 is about to enter the books and while most the world was burning up, we here at rock nyc did what we always do, we listened to music and enjoyed the lovely lovely weather. But it is over now and so let’s look into the future, all the way to… CHRISTMAS!!
Another December, another Z100 Jingle Ball and the question, the only question, that matters is, who will be playing this year? Last year was a bit of stinker, mostly because neither Miley nor Thicke were quite big enough to op the bill. Where is Katy Perry when you need her, right?
But 2014? rock nyc’s predictions…
1. Taylor Swift – With a new album, she likes to use Jingle Ball to test drive her upcoming tour, see how it plays out on a real stage. Assume she will be giving us a dollop of 1989 and a dollop of hits.
2. Iggy Azalea and maaaaaaaybe Ariana Grande. Ariana played last year so I can also imagine her giving it a miss.
3. 5 Seconds of summer – A no brainer that one, there is no way on God’s green earth Summer doesn’t happen during Christmas.
4. Sam Smith – Cmon, they’ve got to right?
5. Onerepublic – There has to be some rock band and this is it. For our sins.
6. Magic! – Always a one hit wonder.
7. Mkto – to open the show.
8. John Legend – Something for the parents. Well, the mothers.
9. A black pop rapper, thought I can’t imagine who right this second.
