Who Wouldda Thunk It? Science Proves Homophobes Likelier To Be Closet Cases

In the music world, not everyone is like Lady Gaga and supports gays and lesbians rights! It’s like everywhere else, some people are purely and simply homophobic. From Christian rock to rap, you can find a clear anti-gay message. For example, Eminem has written some of the worst homophobic lyrics (‘Criminal’, ‘Pants or dress – hate fags? The answer's yes’), and Dr. Dre, DMX, Busta Rhymes and many others have been criticized for the same reason; Odd Future have even been dropped from festivals over anti-gay lyrics (but they should not be taken seriously as they preach hate for everything), and even good old Axl Rose wrote: ‘Immigrants and fagots/They make no sense to me’ in the controversial song ‘One in a Million’.

It is rampant everywhere, in hip-hop, metal, hardcore and reggae, however we have to separate art from real people, and I don’t know exactly which ones of all these musicians are truly homophobic. Of course, I make a total distinction between the multiple uses of ‘faggot’ by Tyler the Creator in his songs, and Megabeth’s David Mustaine publicly declaring ‘It says in the Bible that men should not lay with men like they lay with women. I mean I don’t wanna fuck up and not go to heaven,’ or Gene Simmons saying Adam Lambert has ruined his career with gay confession.

Well homophobic guys of all musical horizons, I have news for you, or rather a confirmation of an old theory by a serious scientific study.

Conducted by a team from the University of Rochester, the University of Essex, England, and the University of California in Santa Barbara, the research, which will be published the April issue of the Journal of Personality and Social Psychology, is the first one to link strong homophobic feelings with an unacknowledged attraction to the same sex. In other words, homophobic people are repressed gays! I know it’s an old theory, but it is now proven as the study involved 4 separate experiments on an average of 160 students for each one, and explored participants’ explicit and implicit sexual attraction by measuring the discrepancies between what people say about their sexual orientation and how they reacted during timed tasks.

The study's lead author, Netta Weinstein, and co-author Richard Ryan explained why a repressed homosexuality may lead to an aggressive reaction toward same sex orientation:

Individuals who identify as straight but in psychological tests show a strong attraction to the same sex may be threatened by gays and lesbians because homosexuals remind them of similar tendencies within themselves.’

‘In many cases these are people who are at war with themselves and they are turning this internal conflict outward.’

The study equally showed that in controlling and homophobic homes, people have a tendency to deny or repress any same sex attraction, as they are terrifying to admit it.

You are not surprised? Sure, but it’s good to know it is backed up by a serious study. And what does it mean for all these homophobes? They are all gays? May be, David Mustaine has to be,… with Rick Santorum whom he endorses so much… I had to mention him!
