We stole this one off brooklynvegan but we are happy to credit the wise cut and pasters for a great great idea: viz taking from Spotify NYU’s listening habits. So what have we learnt: nothing very surprisingly. There is much much worse musicians to patronize then James Blake.
On the other hand, when the students mainstream out their taste is iffier. Haim? I don’t think so. Sia? Disclosure?
It cost a lot to go to NYU, and I guess Blake seems to straddle that cool slash supercool axis slash we’re in the money retrograde groove thang.
PS: I took a look at what they listen to at the University Of georgiaand despite the addition of Luke Bryan (!) and Knoxville’s finest, the Dirty Guv’nahs, it isnt THAT DIFFERENT. No Strokes, of course.
