Van Halen; Hartford Civic Center March 29, 1984

I was just two glorious months away from High School graduation.  There I was in a sea of private school girls in uniform while they squealed and I wretched at the sound of Van Halen.  Dave still had hair, Eddie still looked just like Valerie Bertinelli and that chubby bearded one still wore a vest all the time.  Its 2011 now and the buzz has begun that Diamond Dave and Van Halen could well be recording soon.  I say that would be as wise as my throwing a high school reunion and requiring those former classmates to wear their old uniforms.  Its unfair, its uncool and it could in some cases be sorta scary.

But some of my best peeps were VH fans, including one gal I dubbed Christina Van Halen.  Shes a big shot fancy pants PR queen now, but in 1984 she was just a very pretty girl in a polyester skirt squealing with delight that VH and the boys were in town.

If Im not mistaken I took the train to NYC and hung out at A7 on this particular night, though I could be wrong. It was forever ago
