1. Towards the end of 2012, between setting my desk at work in order and writing enough posts (around 100 in week, maybe more) so I could go to the UK with a clear conscious, something had to give. And something did. I would've gone to the Saturday Stones gig (I was in the States and settled for an earlier one) and I had to give up some concerts: what I chose was Public Enemy at Irving Plaza and man do I regret it. Nobody else reviewed it either so I have no idea how good it was but PE were back on track in 2012 and I regret it.
If there was an excuse for missing PE, all well and good. There was no excuse for missing Beth Orton except I had tix for Jerry Seinfeld at the Beacon. He was OK but mean English girl (per Ryan Adams, no less) was promoting a terrific album That Sugaring Season, which I should have given more love to than I did. People who did see her raved uncontrolably. Bad mistake on my part.
The one I am going to miss is Yo La Tengo at Town Hall on Saturday February 16th but I am going to be at Maroon 5. A mistake. I've seen both bands and M5 are better live but even so, it is a toss up and of course it is Murphy's Law, any decision is the wrong decision.
