Wayne Shorter Unbound! Tix Are Now On Sale For His Feb 1st, 2013 Collab With Chamber Quartet

I wrote about this gig last year, the Wayne Shorter Quartet with the Orpheus Chamber Orchestra coming together to do something really special celebrating the Orpheus 40th anniversary and Wayne's 80th birthday.

Well, we are back to tell you tickets are currently on sale for the February 1st gig and if you need more incentive, the cheap seats are $29 if direct from box office on West 57th and… $14.50 for obstructed view!! In other words, less then buying a tix to a movie on line you can see what sounds like a really terrific set with the sublime saxophonist (bound to be bringing out his Soprano Sax) who began his career REHEARSING WITH JOHN COLTRANE!!!

This is off the  40rpheus Chamber Orchestra website:

"In the year that Orpheus turns forty, jazz legend Wayne Shorter turns eighty. Both are in top form, and they are celebrating together with Shorter's original collaboration for jazz quartet and chamber orchestra. Joining the composer/saxophonist are Danilo Pérez (piano), John Patitucci (bass), and Brian Blade (drums), all world-class improvisers who bring fresh perspective to the musical give-and-take at the heart of the Orpheus process. The program begins with the Overture to The Creatures of Prometheus, composed just as Beethoven was losing his hearing and honing his incisive musical language. Also featured is Charles Ives’ Symphony No. 3, The Camp Meeting, suffused with hymns from the composer’s youth.
