We do a lot of interviews here at rocknyc. Mary Magpie has currently cornered the blog market in sheer volume of talks.
I have had the great pleasure of being privvy to these interviews and offer here my top 5 of 2011.
1- Four Year Strong, Hartford CT. To sit on a tour bus watching a Bruins game with one of the coolest hardcore band of all time is an experirence I will not only never forget, but will cherish. This group of beardcore heroes were so welcoming, so kind and so wonderfully open that I couldn’t help chose this as my number 1.
2- Breathe Carolina Boston MA- OK me and Layna Cloud on her maiden voyage. With the incredible presence of the bands dog Kevin it was hard not to feel at ease. Of course, Layna did not. She was a pro and got it all in order. Offering insight and banter only a knowledged fan could do- I was very proud of her and I wanted to steal the dog.
3- The Devil Wears Prada Hartford CT. As exclusive coverage of the Warped Hartford stop we were impressed with the guys casual and open discussion. Riding high on some new found fame you would expect an ounce of arrogance- to actually know they screened their press options (and chose us) was an honor not to be dismissed. Mike Hranika cleans up great and I left them feeling confident they would go far.
4- All Time Low, Wallingford CT. The teenaged girls may swoon at his feet but Alex Gaskarth is one of the most hilarious guys we have ever spoken too. You cant help but think hes got a never ending string of inside jokes. Prince of Persia.. ‘nuff said.
5-Bayside Boston, MA. Hey we're going to be in their documentary! This was the one time I thought the Magpie was gonna croak from nerves. Anthoney Raneri and Jack O'Shea proved to be insightful, intelligent and very forthcoming with us on that October day. A gorgeous venue gave us a perfect backdrop. Keep an eye out for that documentary- should be fab.
