There is a Petty fest coming in town, a Tom Petty fest I mean! A celebration of the Heartbreakers frontman’s music will be held at the El Rey Theater in Los Angeles on November 14th and 15th and the list of guests is impressive:
Patrick Carney of The Black Keys, Nick Valensi and Fabrizio Moretti of The Strokes, funny comedienne Sarah Silverman, members of Eagles of Death Metal, Harper Simon (Paul’s son, I was wondering what had happened to him!), Nicole Atkins, Har Mar Superstar, Bijou Phillips, Ryan Miller of Guster, Justin Bartha, Jenny O., Rodrigo Amarante, Greg Rogove, Adam Busch, AA Bondy, Cory Chisel & Adriel Denae and more to be announced as well as a few surprises.
If you are in New York, there is an earlier celebration on October 24th at Webster Hall, with a long list of artists as well:
Justin Townes Earle (Steve’s son), Karen Elson (ex-Mrs Jack White), Father John Misty (ex Fleet Foxes), Adam Green, Nicole Atkins, Devendra Banhart, Jesse Malin, Delta Spirit, Sammy James Jr. of The Mooney Suzuki, Cory Chisel & Adriel Denae, Steve Schiltz of Hurricane Bells, Ryan Miller of Guster, Har Mar Superstar, Johnny T, Andrew W.K., Matt Sweeney, Danny Clinch & The Tangiers Blues Band, Justin Long, Petter Ericson Stakee of Alberta Cross, Jody Porter of Fountains of Wayne, Caveman and other surprise guests.
The best part of this is the very reasonable price, $20-25 (plus fees), and the fact that 100% of the proceeds will go to benefit agreat cause, Sweet Relief Music Fund and The Musicians Cancer Fund in order to help musicians struggling to pay medical bills. It will be the first Petty fest in Los Angeles and there is even another one planned in San Francisco for 2013!
