Tom Morello Pours His Heart Out To Rolling Stone

Tom seems sad as he speaks to RS about his band Rage Against the Machine.  It’s been 12 years since those guys have done anything  and I think Tom is sorta bummed about it.  I don’t suppose it has anything to do with his extreme political involvement, do you?

There is a line in music of being too political.  No one wants to be preached at but people do need to be informed.  You can be anti government all you want but if you pay taxes- you’re a part of it.

As for Morello and his band, it appears they meet annually to discuss plans and then ultimately turn down offers.  Tom being the only one wanting to participate in global tours and the like.  The rest of the dudes just wanna chill.   Maybe Tom is just an ass to tour with. I can see that in him… like seriously cork it and have a beer.

The following pout was delivered to Rolling Stone- sorta pathetic

“If it were up to me I would have made two records a year. As it is we have just three records of original material.

“Whether or not we play again in any capacity is unknown. Every show we’ve ever played might have been the last.

“Once a year, the band meets and very seriously discusses and turns down awesome offers to tour the world. That’s part of the program.

“It was my great hope that we’d celebrate the 20th anniversary with a five-continent world tour,” he says. “But short of that, this box set is something that will hopefully be very satisfying for longtime fans, as well as turn on new fans to what the band is all about.”

Not happening.  Instead you get a box set and some DVD’s to soothe your soul with.  Where are the proceeds going on this one?

Their anniversary box set, which includes a DVD of their 2010 concert in Finsbury Park to celebrate their victory over TV game show X-Factor in the 2009 Christmas Number One race.

Othere than that- its Morello protest music at your local Walmart parking lot.  Enjoy!
