Tim McGraw: Boozy Lyrics Cause Brawl?

Most parents wouldn’t think twice about allowing their kid to go to a Tim McGraw show.  He’s that nice cowboy man.  Ask a parent if they would allow their kid to a Devil Wears Prada show and well…there could besome hesitation.  Devil worshippers vs home spun country.

Well then, looks like it’s not so safe anywhere as a 19 year old man was beaten so badly he has to have his spleen removed after a McGraw show in Mansfield MA.  The Comcast venue is weird anyway, it all paths and trees and its there’s 10 thousand corners that trouble can happen in.    When you go to a hardcore show you go in expecting a bruise at the very least, but at a country show, seriously your mind is not on defense.

So what is it?

Booze. The kid was carrying a fake ID and drinking it up apparently words were said and fists flew.  This just proves that you can’t judge a crowd by the band.  I’m not saying there aren’t drunken idiots at a hardcore show, but they sure as heck can’t survive a pit.  I haven’t been to a show with a parking lot brawl since 1982 and I started it.  Aggression should be left on the dance floor.

I think in this scenario a lot has to do with the venue- the former ‘GreatWoods’ is just far too open and there is far too many alley ways- and a bloated donut eating security staff tend to be too busy to really do proper crowd control.

I adore this quote:

If you look at the music today, particularly country music, used to be an easy night for us, but now we have serious problems with alcohol in parking lots during the country concerts,” Mansfield Police Chief Arthur O’Neill told WHDH.“But look at the content of some of their music, it’s all about the booze.”

Rather than blaming the security staff for diligently doing their job lets blame the country singers lyrics.  Well I’m glad to see country getting the heat for a change, my hopes for fast recovery are with the boy- but simply said venues need to do a better job and not consider any night ‘an easy night’,when they’re responsible for containment.

God, I love that photo…
