Hmmm, is this missing something, you think? How about a big name, you just know Pharrel Williams is waiting to link his name with a black martyr, can he be far behind and really, they need him. Niles Rodgers is a great but the new album hasn’t dropped yet last time I looked and he isn’t big enough to carry Barclay Center.
As for Common.
Common is the Al Sharpton of rap, he never met a cause he couldn’t turn into a photo op or a coupla bucks. Selma Schelma, Common hangs his flags anywhere some black actual, you know, heroes, like Nelson Mandela show up, and then convinces that art is action AS SUCH. As though singing about Selma is the same as marching there all those years ago.
Here he is giving his name and crappy music to a good cause.
So go.
