Most cover songs have a lead singer that will nearly rip of every vocal inflection of the original. As soon as I read that The Horrors were doing Suffragette, a small part of me died. I dove in ready to rip the sonofabitches off for robbing Bowie…how dare they!
There are very few times when I will say I was way off mark- but here is one. I really like this version. Faris Badwan sorta techs it up a bit, not using signature Bowie-isms at all. In a nearly speak stop fom he updates and modernizes the fantastic song. Im impressed with the musicianship as well. Much more modern a bit less gravel and a bit more distortion makes keeps the familiarity without making it Karaoke.
The Horrors have been around since 2005, this UK rock band hasn't gotten much attention from me and should. Their elates album 'Skying;' was released in July and now sits happily in heavy rotation on my playlists.
