One of the best indie bands around, The Gotobeds, I raved about their awesome Poor People Are Revolting ages ago, surely the pun of the year right there, awhile back and see no reason to change my mind. A Strokes-y mayhem of sound and sweat on the Lower east Side featuring “New York’s Alright (If You Like Sex And Phones” a song that does the impossible, it lives up to its name.
Everything about this band is first rate and happening, they have a killer attitude and so much buzz that my bet is they sell out the tiny venue (a nice venue as well, I like it a lot, in the heart of Ludlow Street -ground zero for modern rock and roll.
According to Brooklynvegan “Cake Shop’s monthlong 10th anniversary wraps up on Saturday (5/30) with their final “super show” featuring new Sub Pop signees The Gotobeds and SAVAK, the new band from Obits’ Sohrab Habibion and Greg Simpson. The show is now more “super” as The Men have been added as headliners, and Christines will open the show. Advance tickets are now available and that’s the flyer above.”
So signed to Sub Pop, eh? They are certainly good enough.
I’m going, though it is gonna be a long night (looks like till midnight), I’ve wanted to catch the band for months now and finally I don’t have to go to fucking Brooklyn. I’ve haven’t been to a club.. oh wait, I went last week. Anyway, I’m still going.
