I currently see a trend, people imagine their pop stars like flawless goddesses and at the least imperfection revealed there is an internet drama,… and in both cases it was not a reaction from the stars but a reaction from the fans themselves!
You probably have seen the unretouched photos of Beyonce posted on the fan site The Beyonce World, some outtakes from commercial and ad shoots for her L’Oreal’s 2013 campaign,… these pics triggered such a bad wave of awful comments that the website decided to remove them:
‘Due to the disdain of the BeyHive, we have removed the photos. We don’t want to cause any drama, nor do we wish to start fan wars. Some of the things we have seen posted were just horrible, and we don’t want any parts of it. We were just posting the photos to share the fact that our queen is naturally beautiful, at the same time she is just a regular woman.’
Unbelievably, her skin didn’t appear flawless in these pictures, and you can even see two lines around her mouth! Complex has many of them if you want to check…. Oh the horror… ‘Is that really Beyonce?’ Was the common meme over Twitter a day ago, and ugly things were said about the queen B. Her Beyhive didn’t want to even consider the flaws and got so shocked to find out that Bey wakes up with blemishes instead of a perfect complexion that there was a riot. What did all these stupid people think? That photos for prestigious commercial campaigns about a beauty product were not photoshopped to death? How ridiculous! But it’s true she looks a bit different, and I bet they did a bit more than erasing the skin imperfections.
Anyway, it was good to see that Beyonce was human after all, however, the story doesn’t tell if the queen was actually approving these pictures, and to look totally human to me, she would need to approve these pics! However, knowing that she photoshops her Instagram pics…and that she is not that great at it, there is a good chance she would have sued the website.
Then another scandal popped up in my radar, concerning Iggy Azalea. Bikini shots of the rap star appeared online and oh the horror again, her curvy derriere is full of cellulite! Same scenario and new meme on Twitter, followed by nasty comments. This time the star got involved and wrote on her account ‘Just got back from a great vacation, came online and saw apparently it’s shocking and unheard of to be a woman and have cellulite.’ After her body was attacked on social medias, Iggy decided she has had enough with them: ‘The Internet is the ugliest reflection of man kind there is,’ she wrote. ‘My management will tweet/run my accounts from today onwards with updates etc unless any message is signed -IA. Love you all. Peace out!’ ‘But I also want to let my fans know I am taking some time away from social media. I need to be happy and it is too negative and draining’
True, you have to have a tough skin, no pun intended, to play this game. Contrarily to Azalea, Beyonce stayed silent, although it doesn’t mean she wasn’t hurt… When you are so much in love with your character, this kind of stuff has to do some damage.
But honestly, it is a sad reality, the internet and social medias have created this impossible and totally crazy idea of the female beauty for our pop stars,… Do these same people also think that Kim Kardashian’s ass and body are real in these pictures?
